Wreaths Across America  Fundraising, Wreath Placement, & Clean Up

Members of the Optimist Club of Knoxville actively fundraise for both Wreaths Across America and the club by seeking donations locally. These contributions help fund the placement of wreaths at area veteran cemeteries, honoring those who have served our country. In addition to fundraising, we participate in wreath placement and cleanup days alongside others in the community. Interested in learning more or contributing to this year’s wreath placement? Camp Eagle’s Nest

Each summer, the Optimist Club of Knoxville hosts a cookout and organizes messy games for the kids at Camp Eagles Nest, a retreat designed for children as young as 6 who are battling cancer or other blood-related illnesses. This year, the camp was held at Camp Wesley Woods in Townsend, offering these brave kids a chance to enjoy the great outdoors. We were joined by great friends from Young Professionals of Knoxville! Over the years, our club has not only provided many volunteers but also contributed financially through fundraising efforts to help cover camp costs and support this incredible experience. Learn more at the  ETCH summer camp website.

Freaky Friday

The Optimist Club of Knoxville is a proud participant in the Farragut annual Freaky Friday Halloween Event.  Members enjoy meeting attendees and other community members. This year’s event is 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, at Mayor Bob Leonard Park.

Adopt-A-Mile

The Optimist Club of Knoxville proudly participates twice a year in the Town of Farragut’s Adopt-a-Mile program, focusing on trash clean-up near Anchor Park. This initiative not only helps beautify our community but also fosters a spirit of camaraderie among our members. It’s always a rewarding experience that allows us to make a tangible impact in just a short amount of time. Join us in keeping Farragut clean and making a difference in our local environment!

Childhood Cancer

Join us in commemorating our 100th Anniversary by supporting the fight against childhood cancer. Since its inception in 2001, the Childhood Cancer Campaign (CCC) by the Optimist International Foundation has embodied our commitment to the motto, “Friend of Youth.” We’ve been proud participants from the very beginning. Cancer impacts children of all backgrounds, with over 40,000 undergoing treatment each year. Every day, 43 new diagnoses occur, with an average age of just six. All funds raised in our annual CCC are directed toward supporting the Knoxville community.
