Community Projects
Wreaths Across America Fundraising, Wreath Placement, & Clean Up
OCK members solicit donations locally to fundraise for both Wreaths Across America and the club itself. Donations support the placement of wreaths at area veteran cemeteries. We also join others in the community on both placement and cleanup day to support this work that honors those who’ve given so much. Want to learn more or donate toward next year’s placement? Camp Eagles Nest
Each summer, OCK joins provides a summer cookout and support with messy games for the kids at Camp Eagles Nest. The camp provides kids as young as 6 years old who are battling cancer or other blood-related issues an exciting experience in the great outdoors. This year, the retreat was held in the foothills south of Maryville at Camp Montvale. The Optimist Club of Knoxville has provided many volunteers through the years as well as a financial donation to offset camp costs from its fundraising to support the camp. Learn more at the ETCH summer camp website.
Freaky Friday
The Optimist Club of Knoxville is a proud participant in the Farragut annual Freaky Friday Halloween Event. Members enjoy meeting attendees and other community members. We also participate in Farragut’s Adopt-A-Mile Trash clean up near Anchor Park.
