Dorothy Webber “Yes” Award
Dorothy Ann Weber (October 10, 1938 – March 23, 2009) became a member of the Optimist Club of in September of 1988. Past Optimist Club presidents called upon her for help because they knew she would say “yes”, and in 2004 the club awarded her the Optimist of the Year.
The Dorothy Weber “Yes” Award was setup to honor volunteers who have said ”yes” to helping in the various organizations in which Dorothy gave her time unselfishly. The 2025 date will be announced in January 2025!
American Heroes of the Year
The Optimist Club of Knoxville proudly honors our local emergency service professionals who dedicate themselves to serving the community. These brave individuals are always prepared to save lives and protect property in the midst of tragedy and devastation, responding at a moment’s notice, 24/7. We are honored to give back to those who give so much for others, recognizing their commitment and sacrifice for the safety and well-being of our community. August 15, 2025 is the tentative date!
Respect for the Law Day Times Two!
The Optimist Club of Knoxville is honored to recognize outstanding officers from various local law enforcement agencies, including the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Knoxville City Police, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and the FBI. To celebrate these dedicated individuals, we will host two events—on May 2, 2025, and May 16, 2025—recognizing different agencies at each. Stay tuned for more details as the events approach, and join us in showing our appreciation for those who serve and protect our community.
