Missy Kane Bemiller Visits the Optimist Club of Knoxville on Friday, February 3, 2023!

Missy (Alston) Kane Bemiller grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, but attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Did you know that she never ran track and field before entering the University of Tennessee in 1973? Missy earned her Undergraduate and Master’s Degrees in Exercise Physiology from Tennessee, competed in the 1,500 meters at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, won a bronze medal in the 1983 Pan-American games, and placed 6th in the World University games. She epitomizes that can do spirit of Optimists!
Besides coaching distance runners at the University of Tennessee, working at WBIR in Knoxville as the first female sports anchor in East Tennessee, and working as a track and field TV commentator for Fox Sports, what else has this Lady Vols Sports Hall of Famer done? Come find out.
